A true threat emerges from both outer space and within. An ancient virus infects humanity, while a sphere containing advanced technology from a vanished race falls to Earth. Upon making contact with a teenager, the sphere imparts the knowledge needed for salvation. He constructs a network of bunkers to shelter those deemed worthy — by virtue of their intellect and strength of will. As the virus and a nuclear war bring civilization to its knees, this alliance becomes the final hope.
