The principles of health

Health is a simple matter because it is specific. For high quality treatment it is absolutely necessary to understand this specificity. I like one definition of health: it is a feeling of physical and mental well-being. If a knee or lower back hurts, but according to the results of a medical examination everything is fine, hardly anyone would say that this person is healthy. If the physical condition is good, but the person is stressed (for example, troubles at work, a quarrel with a friend, etc.), this is hardly looks like a good state of health.


So feelings are the most accurate indicator. Feelings are very important. Only they can tell us what is good for us and what is not. Whether it’s food, clothing, other people or life circumstances, only feelings keep us in touch with reality. Imagine you put your hand into boiling water. Pain as a symptom reports a problem. Then you can do something to rectify the situation. If there is no pain, your hand will suffer severe damage and, possibly, die with the owner. The same approach applies to the virtual «boiling water», which lives solely in thought.


I often meet people who are divided from their feelings, that is, from reality. Sometimes people are so «in the head» (immersed in the mental, in thoughts), so stressed, so not in contact with themselves, that they don’t feel even the basic needs of thirst and hunger.


Some people may not drink water at all! Some even believe that tea, juice or beverages fill the need for water. This is not true! Our body perceives as food everything that has flavor, color or smell. Physiologists say that the need for water for an adult is about 3—4 liters per day. Remember, up to 60% of the human adult body is water! Water plays an important role in life of an organism. What kind of health can we talk about if one of its most important components is missing?!


Some people have lunch only because it’s time for lunch, not because they need it. Some can’t even feel what they would like to eat. But these feelings directly indicate the needs of the body in specific substances!


What to say about more subtle feelings? These feelings can be considered as a direct dialogue with the world! You don’t need to learn it, we already know how. You should only listen to yourself and then no one will confuse you and convince that white is black. You just need to stop fussing, to abate the Ego (a frightened intellect, crammed with the experience of the past, which exists only in the head), to trust your true Self (someday I will write in detail what I know about layers of information) and discover beauty, simplicity and complexity of the World! The more subtle are the sensations, the more surprising will be the findings…


Then you may be be surprised that some people say you are too much in the clouds. Those are people whose mind is more limited than yours and they certainly soaring in fantasies. You may be surprised at what you see. Sometimes it can hurt, sometimes it can delight with irreality and subtle interrelations. It is unlikely that you would want to turn a blind eye, like your advisers do, to the constant colds of your child or to your husband who has an affair, preferring to assume that everything is fine.


They look like elementary school students who have become familiar with four rules of arithmetic and now feel themselves like «kings». Sometimes they «feel» it so much that are ready to give advice to high school students on solving algebra problems.


It may look ridiculous. For example, parents of a child with autism claim that there is no stressful atmosphere in the family, but during a difficult work with the child they asked each other three times to leave the office. But if everything is fine — as we remember, it’s all about feelings — then there is nothing to change. Impossible to convince persons who think that everything is OK. You can only highlight a problem and, perhaps, they will pay attention to it. Maybe they’ll even think, observe, feel, analyze. Perhaps someday they’ll feel dissatisfaction with the existing order of things or decide to change something. Until then, they may complain of pain in the knee, a tumor in the intestines, an ill child, unfortunate family or financial relationships, but won’t change anything in their life, looking for a magic pill. And when suffering will become unbearable, they’ll seek the Path to happiness. All above emphasizes that to have a symptom is good, that it points to an area where the person deviated from the Path.


Therefore, it is important to remember that before any business there should be a plan. Initially we plan something, then take some actions and get an appropriate result (PLAN — ACTION — RESULT). It doesn’t matter if a plan is conscious or unconscious. Epigenetics claim that in the conscious state we spend 1—4% of our lifetime, the rest is in the unconscious. Sprained ankle, cancer in the liver, constipation, road accident — all of it is a result of the actualization of your plan.


There is an expression, «All diseases come from nerves.» Neurophysiology vividly confirms this. The STRESS — NERVOUS SYSTEM — PHYSIOLOGY — SYMPTOM chain is known to everyone.


Stress for a person is a purely individual situation. You certainly noticed that different people relate to the same situation in completely different ways, sometimes in the opposite way. The problem is not in the situation, but in people’s feelings about it, with what colors they paint the situation.


This indwelling in the situation has an extremely practical meaning. Depending on feelings presented in the conflict, a specific area of the brain will be damaged. Dr. Hamer researched these connections on head MRI and created «a scientific table of new medicine» (as he called it). This table surprisingly repeats and complements the information we see in traditional Chinese medicine texts on metaphysics of diseases. For example, several people were fired: one will experience devaluation («I don’t feel valuable»), damage to the cerebral relay in the white matter of the brain and impaired locomotor system; another may experience a loss of his or her territory with damage to the cerebral relay in the gray matter of the right hemisphere and to the arteries of the heart. Someone may feel shame which triggers the development of melanoma, and someone might say: «Oh, I dreamed for a long time to try new things!» and there will be no problems.


In addition, in biology there is no question of time. It doesn’t matter if the tragedy occurred 3 days ago, 3 years ago, 33 years ago or even in the life of the grandfather (transgenerational conflicts can last through generations). Ask the person: «What happened on June 26, 1997?» And she’ll say: «Nothing special, it was summer.» But if a tragedy occurred in her life, she’ll say: «It was morning, pink curtains moving on the window, we quarreled with my husband, he slapped me in the face. Even now, after 19 years, I feel my left cheek burn.» A conflict continues to live in the system.


The brain sends a signal to the nervous, vascular, endocrine and other systems of the body how to work in new conditions. Physiology is changing, adapting to new requirements. Simplifying physiological processes, we can say: it is a blood supply disturbance. Anyone knows that if there is a normal flow of arterial blood and outflow of venous blood and lymphatic fluid, normal metabolic processes occur, and there is no room for diseases.


Pathological processes develop when physiology is overloaded with stress and tensions, which cause disturbances in the brain and blood circulation. Symptoms appear. A symptom (whether it is a body temperature rising, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, pain in the abdomen or in the right foot, tumor in the liver, decreased hemoglobin) reports on a physiological disturbance, damage to a specific area of the brain (or several areas in case of several symptoms) and specific stress. Even if it is a burn or a fracture, what may seem like an accident is an unknown pattern.


Of course, it is necessary to understand the phases of the disease. Dr. Hamer calls them the «cold» and «hot» phases. In the parlance of neurophysiology, it is an activity of the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system (sympathicotonia) and the parasympathetic division of the ANS (vagotonia). Anyone, even without medical education, understands that when you run away from the bear there will be one kind of reactions in the body, and after that, in the safety of a cave, completely different ones.


Knowing the phases of the disease makes it clear why inflammation is good. Inflammation means a beginning of the recovery, an influx of fluids into the damaged area, including arterial blood. Therefore, we feel pain, see redness of the area, edema, swelling, increased local and general body temperature, impaired segment function (it is necessary to immobilize the area for healing). Let’s say, an athlete ran more than usual and got stress: his legs hurt and increase in volume, it hurts to move, muscle palpation is painful. It all means a recovery process with inflammation. Or a hand fell into boiling water — stress; then a hand swells — recovery is in progress. Or someone got into a situation that «smells bad», and nasal congestion appears (as when you get into a smoke-filled room, a protective reaction arises, nasal congestion). Or a person wants to slow down the development of the situation and gets arthritis of the knee joints. Inflammation always goes with the participation of microbes.


There are problems in understanding the role of microbes. It is believed that microbes are unhealthy for people. But let’s think about it… We have quite a lot of cells in our body, about 50 trillion. But microbes are 10 times more. It’s clear that we coexist, helping each other. The immune system controls their activity. The activity of the immune system, like any other, is under control of the nervous system. Microbes live inside us and around us in myriads.


Some people say: «I have a weak immune system, so I often catch a cold.» Let’s think about this common phrase… and look around. People with a weak immune system don’t get sick, they die, for example, from AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Therefore, when we see symptoms of infection, it means that the nervous and immune systems are working hard. When they work in the normal mode, we feel good. When microbes are active it is important to understand their role. First of all, remember what medical students read in their textbooks on microbiology: for development of microbes there should be a suitable environment (conditions) in the body. But microbes don’t form this suitable environment.


Talking about bacteria, their task is decomposition. The consequence of this work for the body has many positive effects on digestion, synthesis of vitamins, etc. Each bacterium works in its own field.


Sometimes people talk about dysbiosis (a bacterial imbalance) as if it’s a source of all troubles. Let’s think… If you leave some products, such as fruits, after a while they’ll start to rot. It’s the work of bacteria. If products were in a plastic bag, they’ll become liquid and even warm. The same process goes in the intestines, lungs, skin or kidneys. When stasis forms in the tissues and products of metabolic processes accumulate, they must be removed, and the immune system activates bacteria necessary for this. A problem is not the kind of bacteria, but why they appeared in this place. We consider the circulatory disturbance, timely delivery and removal of substances, adequate nervous system control. When I was a novice osteopath, I was surprised why after an osteopathic work otitis, sinusitis, colds, lower back pain went away in three days without any additional treatment? It turns out that recovery was already on the way, there was enough to free the bloodstream to remove metabolites and a recovery process was quickly completed.


It seem to me that viruses have become proverbial. They are accused of many sins up to causing neoplasms. However, what is a virus? It is an RNA-strand. Neither living nor dead. Virus RNA, integrating into the DNA of a host cell, produces new proteins and changes the biochemistry of the body. We literally become the others. This is necessary to resist stress, to become stronger. The latest information I know about this topic: scientists claim that our genome is 65% virus RNA. So who wants to kill whom?


By the way, let’s talk about genome and genetics. Often I come across a misunderstanding of this issue. Once it was believed that if there are about 100 000 proteins in our body, there should be 100 000 genes and about 20 000 regulatory genes. We dreamed that identification of the DNA sequence will help us to control diseases and abilities. It turned out that there are only 25 000 genes. In comparison, a simple Drosophila fly has 16 000. A question arose: how does this system work and controlled? A science of epigenetics answers these questions. The point is in understanding the epigenetic information landscape that controls the genome. Again, we see here the central control by the nervous system.


Finally, there are fungal infections. In 1g of soil can live up to several hundred thousand fungi. Fungi help to quickly transform substances and make the soil fertile. In biology, this means a process that requires transformation — mourning, that wasn’t live through. For example, someone went to study in another city. After some time he noticed a fungal nail infection. This problem is often associated with hygiene: maybe he put on someone’s slippers? But in fact this man didn’t live through the mourning saying good bye to the land of his ancestors. In this case you can make a lot of effort without much success. I remember one important case of a man about 47 years old. He had a set of various symptoms; in addition, there was almost complete absence of nail plates on big toes of both feet, only some crumbs at the base of the nails. Some symptoms disappeared, others appeared, everything was as usual. After about 3,5 years since our first meeting I noticed that his nails had completely restored. For me it was a shock, since I was sure that the nails had been dead.


When you cut your finger, do you give commands to the cells how to work? Our body somehow recovers, according to the preconceived plan (remember, before any work there is a plan). Some call this plan the «health matrix.» It is confirmed by the case Roger Gilchrist (director of WELLNESS INSTITUTE, USA) spoke about: «I was in one American province and paid attention to a man with a crooked index finger. I asked, „What happened to the finger?“ He answered that during some agricultural work he accidentally chopped off the finger and then it has grown crooked. To the question, „Do you know that fingers don’t grow back?“, the man shrugged, as if it was obvious stupidity.» For him this restriction didn’t exist. If there is no limit, then there is no problem.


However, it is important to understand that the brain is not smart, it’s an ideal performer. Some people at our lectures on the principles of health ask questions or even raise objections… «Well, — I answer, — then give me wow-wow.» They freeze, as it happens when you meet something unknown. Therefore, if you want to do something, you must learn how. It applies to any area of life, including restoration to health and strength.


Understanding the principles of body work makes doctor a philosopher. A doctor must reflect (see the article «Interactions. My own thoughts»). Drawing on knowledge, observation and reflection, Dr. Still, the founder of osteopathy, spoke about the importance of anatomy, physiology, chemistry and the ability to think. He claimed that the Great Architect provided for everything that is necessary for human life and health, and called it the «Divine Law.» Today we call it physiology and neurophysiology. This shocked both doctors and various theologians (of past and present). Only the incredible efficiency of Dr. Still’s work with any problems, the gratitude and respect of people, prevented them from reprisal against the doctor.


For achieving recovery, you must understand the «Divine Law» and apply tools given by Nature. There were many bright intellects in the history of mankind, but no one was able to come up with something better than the Great Architect. There were only attempts to complement His work, as if He couldn’t foresee something in the plan. A doctor’s task is to understand the plan and to use tools that were created by the Great Architect, to follow the principles (see «Autobiography» by A. T. Still). Anyone who has read this book, as well as «A Young Doctor’s Notebook» by M.A. Bulgakov, understand that the lack of reflection creates a need to follow traditions. This principle remains intact in the second half of the XIX century, at the beginning of the XX century and in the XXI century as well.


Therefore, it is important to remember that in treatment we follow not the human laws, traditions or other fabrications, but the «laws created not by human hands» (Dr. Still).


Bert Hellinger writes in «Success in Life»: «Success is the law of life. All living things are successful. Here all depends on whether we accept life as it is… At the same time life is love. All human life unfolds through love. All successful relationships are love relationships. This basic law applies in all areas.»


Isn’t it just brilliant? If the heart doesn’t work well, death follows. If the lungs fail, death comes. If relationships are unsuccessful, there is no life. If you want to live, you must be successful and fill your life with love! Otherwise… Well, you know…


If you still doubt about greatness of this world, its beauty, multidimensionality and variability, open your eyes, open your ears and other doors of perception. Trust your feelings, not your thoughts and memories of the past, which no longer exists. Remember, the World itself and our perception of it are two different things. The World is as we see it. If we perceive the world from the perspective of our ideas, frameworks, traditions, trauma or beliefs, it can look horrible. But it doesn’t mean that the World is like that, it means that we see it like that. And if you become an observer, researcher, if you replace fear with curiosity (which is natural for children), you can open another world, amazing, beautiful, magical and filled with love!


If you’ll remember the above well, conclusions about treatment become clear. Then it would be easy to understand what you need to do in an emergency and what needs to be done to heal a person. You’ll see the modest role of a doctor in human’s life and the role of a person in his or her recovery (see «Interactions. Your greatness»).


Now, if you’ll hear or maybe tell yourself or someone that to have a symptom is good, it will be clear why it is truth. A symptom tells us about a whole chain of changes that come from an initial stress. The symptom serves as a reminder of what is still unresolved and forgotten. Words of Dr. R. Hamer have a deep meaning: a disease is not an enemy that must be destroyed; it is a friend, a special biological program for adapting to stress. I would say, that a symptom is a wonderful thing! It serves as a guiding thread on the road to Happiness! I realized it after 700 personal decodings…


It’s obvious that miraculous drugs, magic injections, surgery or manipulations cannot lead to health (see «Interactions. Medicines»). Remember a proverb: «Medicus curat, natura sanat» — a physician treats, nature heals. This is a great cure for the «syndrome of God» in some arrogant boasters. If you create conditions for the normal functioning of an organism, it restores itself, relying on the internal plan of the «health matrix».


Therefore, to change a symptom, be it physical or mental, it is necessary to change the «health matrix», the fabric of your life. As if some rails led you to one station, but you need another one. In this case you get on a new track and head to where you need to be.


For successful healing it is worth to remember four rules, written by Dr. Still:

1. The body is a single whole

If someone argues that kidneys can work on their own and the circulatory system is independent, such claims have no meaning in physiology and deserve a unequivocal attitude toward mental abilities of the speaker. Dr. Still also reminded of the wholeness of the Body, Mind and Spirit.

2. The body is a self-healing and self-regulating system

We have already talked about it, discussing the «health matrix». We need certain conditions for recovery, not magic pills or manipulations. These conditions involve a delivery of the necessary substances and removal of metabolic products.

3. The rule of the artery

If there is an unobstructed blood flow and timely outflow, the metabolic processes will proceed normally. In this case there is no room for the disease.

4. The structure determines the function, the function affects the structure

A kidney can’t work as a heart, a lung can’t function as a muscle. They have different structures. However, if you load a muscle, it changes, it becomes larger, the bone, tendons and ligaments between the bones thicken. The same applies to the lung if it works with an increased load up to the proliferation of cells, which means lung cancer. If, as a result of stress, a tension arose in the system and blood vessels and nerves become pinched, function will be impaired. Disorder of function will lead to the destruction of a structure.


Encountering some symptom, we must ask ourselves: what happens with the blood supply in the problem area?


Here it is worth to talk about why Dr. Still called this science osteopathy. Although he speaks clearly about it in his books, I didn’t immediately realize why. Anyone who has seen a schema of a human skeleton, vascular and nervous system, can mentally combine them. And now anyone, even without medical education, can answer a question if there is any part of the body that isn’t connected with the skeletal system. During lectures the answer is usually given in 10—15 seconds — of course not! Tension in any part of the body, in any organ, vessel or nerve trunk will lead to limited mobility. Bone is the hardest tissue, it’s easy to feel and analyze its mobility. After carrying out the technique it’s easy to double-check changes in bone mobility, be it a rib, vertebra, femur, 8 wrist bones or a temporal bone. For 7 years I pondered a question «Why Dr. Still used a bone in the name of his science?» You answered this question in 15 seconds. Here I see the only benefit of a specialist: saving of time. A high-level specialist can explain the most complex problem in a simple phrase and help you to ask a right question so you can answer it yourself. Then no one will confuse you with fanciful fantasies.


Now that we are armed with the principles of health, our own experience and thoughts, let’s think about the principles of treatment.

The principles of treatment

In this chapter I would like to reveal the simplicity of the principles of treatment, answer a question about an importance of understanding a living organism, tell you about working with cause-effect relations and explain a role of doctor’s personality.


Of course, this text will be rather big, perhaps something will seem complicated. For example, some doctors find an article on the principles of health incomprehensible and too voluminous. It seems to me amazing!


Understanding theoretical foundations, the development of practical skills makes treatment and recovery simple and easy way with specific technologies. Therefore, medical science is very simple because of its specificity.


I would like to start with conventional medicine, also called official, allopathic, etc. Someone criticizes it, someone praises. Let’s think…


We accumulated a certain amount of knowledge, theories and practical manipulations with differing degrees of effectiveness. When a tooth aches, people don’t think, «What to do? What is the reason? ” They go to a specialist who’ll help. When the arm is broken, hardly anyone thinks «What to do?» They run to a specialist. When blood pressure rises, people too seek help from a specialist, as with many other problems. Why? Because there are wonderful technologies to solve problems in the short term.


In the short term? Yes. Do the person feel better after treatment? Did the quality of life improve? Of course! However… Can we consider a person healthy after lowering blood pressure? Can a person be considered healthy after proximal femoral replacement? Has a person recovered after normalization of blood sugar levels with a help of sugar-lowering drugs? Is a person healthy after alignment bone fragments and fixing them?


Why, then, people remember their fractures after physical exercises, changing weather and so on? It is obvious that the development of medicine is just colossal! Today it is possible to return a person from a coma, practically back from the dead! But this is not enough to recover…


Some prefer traditional medicine, which is also called folk or alternative. Magic, spells, biting hernias, herbal treatments and more… It is unlikely that knowledgeable people will argue that such treatment is possible. But those who have seen strangulated or suppurate hernias, neglected cases of hip dysplasia and other horrors of fraudulent treatment won’t believe that there are effective technologies of this kind. After all, recovered people do not come to doctors.


Why all these views are so antagonistic? Because people don’t understand anatomy, physiology and neurophysiology and lack reflection. It is a fertile ground for creating an intellectual swamp and pseudoscientific fantasies that generate traditions (see «The principles of health»). When you find knowledge, everything falls into place and it becomes clear where, when and which tool to use.


When treating any problem, you need to ask yourself: what about the blood supply? What about innervation (nerve activity)? What is the cause of dysfunction? These three questions determine the success of recovery. Do you agree?


What should you do in practice? It’s obvious — you need to find obstacles in the way of blood vessels, nerves and release them, release tension in the central nervous system. Find out the initial stress and resolve it. Work with each link in the neurophysiological chain STRESS — BRAIN — PHYSIOLOGY — SYMPTOM. Otherwise, you can treat or affect the symptom endlessly.
