Yesterday, my alarm clock rang at 7:00, but I did not hear it. I was very tired because I went to bed late. My mother came into my room and said,
«Anna, you must wake up now! You will be late for school!»
I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 7:30.
«Oh no!» I said. «I should get up quickly!»
I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth very fast. I looked in the mirror and laughed. My hair was a mess.
«I can fix it later,» I said.
Then I went to the kitchen. My mother was making breakfast.
«Good morning,» she said. «You look very sleepy.»
«I am sleepy,» I said. «I should go to bed earlier.»
There was some bread, eggs, and tea on the table. I wanted to eat, but I did not have much time.
«You must eat something,» my mother said.
«Okay,» I answered, and I ate a small breakfast.
After that, I went back to my room and got dressed. I put on my school uniform and packed my bag. I checked my books and notebooks.
«I think I have everything,» I said.
At 7:50, I was ready to go.
«Bye, Mom!» I said.
«Have a good day,» she answered.
I ran to the bus stop. I saw my friend Kate there.
«Hi, Anna!» she said. «You look tired.»
«Yes,» I said. «I woke up late today.»
«You should sleep more,» she said.
«I know,» I answered.
The bus came, and we got on. We talked and laughed on the way to school. I felt better.
At school, the first lesson was English. I like English, but I was still a little tired. The teacher asked,
«Anna, can you read the text?»
«Yes, I can,» I said, and I read it slowly.
After some time, I felt more awake. I answered questions and worked with my classmates.

I like Friday because it is the last school day of the week. When I wake up on Friday morning, I feel happy.
«Today is Friday!» I say to myself.
I wake up at 7:00 a.m. and get ready for school. I wash my face, brush my teeth, and get dressed. I usually wear my favorite clothes on Friday.
«You look nice today,» my mother says.
«Thank you,» I answer.
In the kitchen, I eat breakfast with my family. I have cereal and tea.
«Are you excited for today?» my father asks.
«Yes, I am,» I say. «It’s Friday!»
At school, I have my favorite lessons. I like English and art. In English class, we read stories and speak a lot.
«Emily, can you read this text?» the teacher asks.
«Yes, I can,» I say.
In art class, we draw and paint. I enjoy it very much.
«You can draw very well,» my friend says.
«Thank you,» I smile.
After school, I feel free because I don’t have school the next day. My friends and I sometimes go to a café or walk in the park.
«What do you want to do today?» my friend Lucy asks.
«Let’s go for a walk,» I say.
We talk, laugh, and enjoy the fresh air. I feel relaxed and happy.
In the evening, I spend time with my family. We have dinner together and talk about our week.
«Do you have homework?» my mother asks.
«A little,» I answer. «I can do it later.»
After dinner, I watch a movie or listen to music. Sometimes I read a book. I don’t go to bed early because I don’t need to wake up early on Saturday.
«You should not stay up too late,» my father says.
«Okay,» I say, but sometimes I stay up anyway.
Before I go to sleep, I think,
«Friday is the best day.»
It is not just a day. It is the start of the weekend and time to relax.

Last Monday, I woke up at 6:30 a.m. I could not sleep well at night because I was thinking about my new school.
«Today is the day,» I said to myself.
My mother came into my room.
«Good morning, Julia,» she said.
«Good morning,» I answered. «I feel nervous.»
«That is normal,» she said. «You will be fine.»
I got dressed and went to the kitchen. I ate some cereal and drank tea. I did not eat much because I was worried.
«You should eat more,» my mother said.
«I can’t,» I answered. «I am not hungry.»
At 7:30, we left the house. My mother went with me because I did not know the way.
«Don’t worry,» she said. «You can make new friends.»
«I hope so,» I said.
When we arrived, I saw a big building and many students. I felt shy.
«Good luck,» my mother said.
«Thank you,» I answered.
I went inside and looked for my classroom. A teacher saw me.
«Can I help you?» she asked.
«Yes,» I said. «This is my first day.»
«Welcome!» she smiled. «Come with me.»
She showed me my classroom and my seat. I sat down quietly. Some students looked at me.
Then a girl came to me.
«Hi, I’m Anna,» she said.

«Do you want to sit with me at lunch?» she asked.
«Yes, thank you!» I said.
I felt much better.
In class, the teacher asked me to introduce myself.
«My name is Julia. I am new here,» I said.
«Welcome, Julia!» the class said.
The lessons were interesting, and the teachers were kind. At lunch, I sat with Anna and her friends. We talked and laughed.
«You are very nice,» Anna said.
«Thank you,» I smiled.
After school, my mother met me outside.
«How was your day?» she asked.
«It was good!» I said. «I was nervous in the morning, but now I feel happy.»

Preparing for a Test
My name is Tom, and I want to tell you about the day I prepared for an important test. It was a math test, and I felt a little worried.
Last Tuesday, I came home from school at 3:00 p.m. I put my bag on the chair and sat down.
«I must study today,» I said to myself.
My mother came into the room.
«Do you have homework?» she asked.
«Yes,» I said. «I have a test tomorrow.»
«You should start now,» she said.
«I will,» I answered.
First, I opened my math book and looked at the exercises. Some tasks were easy, but others were difficult.
«This is not easy,» I thought.
I took a notebook and started to write. I did one exercise, then another. After some time, I felt tired.
«I need a short break,» I said.
I went to the kitchen and drank some tea. My sister was there.
«What are you doing?» she asked.
«I am studying for a test,» I said.
«You can do it,» she said.
«Thank you,» I smiled.
