Making Tea in the Morning

Story

Anna wakes up at 7:00 in the morning. The room is quiet, and the light from the window is soft. She opens her eyes slowly and listens. She can hear a car outside and a bird on the tree. She feels a little sleepy, but she knows it is time to get up.

She sits on the bed for a minute and stretches her arms. Then she stands up and walks to the window. She looks outside. The sky is light blue, and the air looks cold. People are walking to work. Some of them are in a hurry. Anna smiles. She likes quiet mornings like this.

Anna puts on her slippers and goes to the kitchen. The floor is a little cold, but she does not mind. The kitchen is small but clean. There is a table, two chairs, and a little shelf with cups and plates. Everything is in the right place.

She goes to the shelf and takes her favorite mug. It is white with a small blue flower. She got it from her friend two years ago. She uses this mug every morning. It makes her feel comfortable.

Anna puts the mug on the table and turns to the sink. She takes the kettle and fills it with water. The water is very cold. She closes the kettle and puts it on the table. Then she presses the button. The kettle starts to work. It makes a quiet sound.

While she waits, Anna looks around the kitchen. The table is clean, but there is a book on it. She was reading it last night. She takes the book and puts it on the shelf. Then she opens the fridge. There is milk, some fruit, and a piece of cake. She smiles when she sees the cake.

The kettle is still working. Anna walks to the window and looks outside again. Now there are more people in the street. A man is talking on his phone. A woman is walking her dog. The dog is small and white. It is running and looks very happy.

Anna feels calm. She likes to watch people in the morning. It is a quiet time, and everything feels new.

The kettle makes a louder sound. The water is ready. Anna turns it off and takes a tea bag from a small box. She puts the tea bag into her mug. Then she carefully pours the hot water into the mug. The steam goes up, and the kitchen feels warm.

Anna sits down and watches the tea. The color changes slowly. It goes from light to dark. She waits for a few minutes. She does not hurry. This is her time.

After some time, she takes a spoon. She adds a little sugar and some milk. Then she mixes the tea slowly. The sound of the spoon in the mug is soft and nice.

Anna takes the tea bag out and puts it in a small plate. Then she takes her mug in both hands. The mug is warm. She likes this feeling.

She sits at the table and takes her first sip. The tea is hot, but very good. She closes her eyes for a second. Now she feels more awake.

Anna looks at the clock. It is 7:20. She still has time before work. She decides to sit and relax a little more. She takes her phone and checks her messages. There is a message from her friend. It says, «Good morning! Have a nice day!» Anna smiles and writes back, «Good morning! Thank you!»

She puts her phone down and drinks more tea. She thinks about her day. She has work, a meeting, and maybe a walk in the evening. She is not worried. Everything feels okay.

The sun is higher now, and the kitchen is brighter. The light comes through the window and falls on the table. Anna looks at her mug again. The blue flower is small, but beautiful. She is happy she has it.

She finishes her tea slowly. There is still a little warmth in the mug. She stands up, takes the mug, and walks to the sink. She washes it with warm water and puts it back on the shelf.

Anna looks around the kitchen one more time. Everything is clean. Everything is ready. She feels calm and ready for the day.

She turns off the light, takes her bag, and leaves the kitchen. The morning is over, but it was good. Tomorrow, she will do the same.

He walks around the kitchen. He drinks some water. He looks at his phone. Time goes slowly.

After ten minutes, he checks the socks. They are a little dry, but not enough.

Tom is nervous now. «What can I do?» he thinks.

Then he has another idea. He goes to his bag. Maybe he has an extra pair of socks there.

He opens the bag and looks inside. There are papers, a book, and a bottle of water.

And… yes!

There is a pair of socks.

Tom smiles. «Great!» he says.

He quickly puts on the clean, dry socks. Then he gets dressed. Shirt, trousers, shoes. Everything is ready.

He takes his bag and looks at the clock. It is 7:38.

He runs to the door, opens it, and leaves the house.

Then she looks around her room.

The room is not clean.

There are clothes on the chair and on the floor. Books are on the bed. There are cups on the table. Her bag is under the desk, and her shoes are near the door.
