The first volume of the Game Changer series “The Basics” has clarified how mankind exerts a growing influence on life on earth and the atmosphere. The primacy of the purely economic exploitation of earth over the environmental impacts will continue to worsen the living conditions.
Thus global warming is curbed, climate conferences have to send a strong signal for a sustained reduction of the carbon footprint, of other greenhouse gases and of ozone depleting substances. Much discussed solutions are innovative energy systems, the Cap-and-Trade-Mechanism advocated by the Americans and geoengineering. There is already progress in the substantial reduction of gases with ozone depletion potential, but additional measures are needed to support the healing of the protective shell.
This volume invites you, our valued readers, to continue the journey in the field of politics where strategies concerning the battle for power often prevent an implementation of models that are based on cost/benefit analysis and on details that are decisive in the energy economy.
