A fast stream flowed through the forest, and they usually crossed it by walking along a large branch. However, a recent flood had washed the branch away, and now the ants could no longer carry food and building materials back to their anthill.

The old leader ant said,

«We need to find a way to get to the other side of the stream. Without it, we won’t be able to store enough food for the winter!»
