I sincerely wish that this book, along with my music, will help you journey within yourself, to find and meet your childhood self, not yet mature and not yet infected with the virus of suppressing the childish joy of existence and simple heart-level communication with others like yourself, without suppressing your true feelings and emotions, and to feel yourself as yourself — a cosmic being who has found yourself on this planet to gain the experience your Soul needs!»
Mikayel Gabriel
SOUL
The human soul is very similar to a bee’s wings, and in childhood, it shines and shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow from the joy of communicating with the world. As people age, they begin to suppress their sincere impulses of joy and childish enthusiasm, justifying themselves with the need to grow up and become like other authoritative adults who have successfully learned to suppress these impulses and, as a result, have forgotten what it means to experience the simple joy of being, or a sincere smile, or the spontaneous desire and action of sharing one’s joy with the world around us, or the impulsive urge to wish someone goodnight, and for this impulse to not remain just an impulse but to become an action…
Imagine a bee with wooden wings…
This is what the souls of people look like who have let in this virus of obligatory growing up and suppressed impulses of joy and sincere childish urges. And the most terrible thing about this is that, no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to turn back these «wooden wings» in this life and transform them one hundred percent into a shimmering essence of joy and love, shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow.
People with «wooden wings of the soul» can very well become bankers or managers (distributors of wealth), businessmen, etc., but they will never be able to create anything valuable in the field of art, and especially music, since music is a very subtle matter — yes, matter that is impossible to even touch. Nevertheless, some succeed. And they succeed precisely because of the subtle, bee-wing-like and highly sensitive matter of their souls. And these people always have a choice — to alter or squander this substance in pursuit of earthly blessings, or to preserve and cherish this matter, primarily as a receiver of information from more subtle worlds, and always be glad for every opportunity to create something new and beautiful.
And throughout the history of mankind, this beauty, strangely enough, was created by people who often did not have even the most basic conditions for life and creativity, very often being hungry, but nevertheless, they created it, and Maslow’s famous model of needs does not apply to them at all. Bach created his music while being a servant and few people know that he was imprisoned several times for beating his master, but while in prison he had to create something new for Sunday church services and he did, Beethoven created his music while being deaf, Schubert was definitely lucky with his friends who shared food and other things with him throughout his adult life, fully understanding that if he spent his time making money and, for example, became a bank clerk or a cucumber seller, he would lose that very subtlety and sensitivity of his soul, which provided him and any other person engaged in musical creativity with the reception of information from more subtle worlds and its further processing through his mind and the creation of beauty. Debussy created his piano images without even owning a piano, Wagner was hounded by creditors until he was fifty, Mozart dreamed of food and a heated home almost every winter, and all these difficulties did not stop them from creating and producing beauty.
And none of them betrayed their Soul, or rather, the substance of their soul, and not because their egos were overwhelmed, but because they all understood very well, on a subconscious level, that after such a barter, they would lose the subtlety, sensitivity, and elasticity of this substance of their Soul. Yes, such people are very easy to hurt and offend, and this is not because they are all somehow wrong, but because they will always choose to remain with a thin and sensitive soul without protective armor, and during life they will not stop polishing it further.
And they all share one interesting characteristic: they all lived and left this world with a feeling of profound satisfaction. In fact, few have considered that satisfaction is a connection with Infinity, while the pleasures people seek are «here and now,» and therefore they never have enough of them… But satisfaction comes once and for all, and certainly not from pleasure.
