A small Capybara was sitting at a table by the window and looking at the night sky. It was covered with bright Christmas stars.

«It’s time for me to make a wish, — the Capybara decided. She put her paw to the glass and selected the largest star. — My dream is to meet a cute kitten with whom I could spend cozy winter evenings.»

The star heard her wish. It nodded and blinked, then rose up and disappeared.

The Capybara believed that her Christmas wish would come true. She smiled happily and went to bed. That night, she dreamed about a kitten and a star, with whom she played in the yard, built a big snowman, and had fun.

In the morning, a long-awaited miracle happened. Capybara went to a candy store. On the stairs at the entrance, she met a little red kitten who looked cold and sad.

«How cute! What’s your name?» — asked Capybara.

«Meow, — replied the kitten. — Meow. I’m cold. I don’t have a home.»

«What a nightmare! Let’s live with me! — invited the Capybara. — I just wanted a kitten!»

The kitten was very happy with a new friend and a cozy house. The Capybara fed the guest delicious fish. In the evening, they read fairy tales together and went to bed. This is how their friendship began.
