Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926) was an outstanding lyric poet of the 20th century. A visionary and philosopher-poet, he stepped far beyond the bounds of his era, creating a unique poetic universe where everyone can find a secret corner for themselves and discover it as a piece of their own soul. Born in Prague, he lived in Berlin, Paris, and Switzerland. His worldview found its fullest expression in the «Duino Elegies» and the «Sonnets to Orpheus.» He is buried in Raron, Switzerland.
