I’d like to share with a friend, so dear,
My ideas, experience and views…
They’ll probably, turn out to be helpful,
Lessons of life, so generously given…
I looked at some of them sidewise,
Painting pictures and writing these fables…
They were collected in my copybook,
And now it is time to let them out…
Let them knock about the world,
Let them fly around the whole globe… so splendid…
They will find a reader, who will take them as a treasure,
They will be as a key to his life or… just a book friend…
Once in the sunrise, going my way,
I saw a mule climbing up the hill…
Two heavy bags he carried on his back, limbs of his were extremely
hard to move, he went on, sighing, and blaming all his life for such
a heavy burden…
Having approached him, I said “Hello!” to him and wished
a lucky journey…
And the mule stopped and glimpsed at me, with his ears lifted,
with his eyes wide-opened, surprised so much by a sudden
“Ah, human being… you probably, are laughing, when wishing
luck and seeing all my burden, my limbs, so shivering, when
climbing uphill. I’ve lost my strength entirely, and you’re playing
jokes on me!”
“I’m not joking… just want to be amiable to you…, and if you let
me I’ll ask, what is contained in these heavy bags, which you bring
uphill with you, why is it so that you can’t move your limbs?”
“Oh, don’t you even ask… I carry the life’s burden, willing to raise
it up so high, and throw it from above, so it will not torture me,
I will be able to take a breath.
These bags contain my own hard feelings… on those who laughed
at me, who pointed with his finger, telling me I’m ugly, I’m not
“Mule, what the nonsense are you talking, how could one believe
in the words like that?
And why and how could you take this burden? The words
of a stranger who can’t see the soul…
The words of one mindless one, who sees but bare surface…
Who notices just picture, body shape… while the heart of his is
turning to concrete…
Just listen, dear creature, forget the words… forgive them all and
threw these words away, now throw all this burden… offences,
your anger at life, all that noise…
Here and now… throw all this, no need to lift it up!
Move on my friend, and see the light and good, climb up the
mountain of life, just leave your bags behind you, and move
without fear! Then your soul will fly, as soon as you throw your
burden, you will rise to the top, to Heaven, and you will see the
beauty of the world, the easiness of life… no gravity, no weight.”
The mule believed me… yes, he dreamt of flying since his birth,
He looked at all his bags, and his limbs, shaking of weight
and suffering, with all his might he raised himself, he cried
out loud he threw his things, his years-long belongings,
And what a wonder! Back and limbs, and body… they all are light
and joyful! He ran uphill, and laughed, he felt so high!
He ran and looked straight into my eyes… tears ran, his heartbeat
much faster, his voice was different… joyful and relieved…
“Thank you, oh, human being, you helped me understand
That the appearance is of no importance… the most significant
is the content… The Lord… laid difference in us, and that’s the
point, and everyone… could be unique and marvelous…
The body serves our soul; it is our tool, assistant in our way,
We must create… and sing the Heaven’ song, so splendid…
If we were all alike… like copies, samples, patterns,
We would become so foolish and unpleasant… with everyone
whose body somewhat differs.”
“It is alright with you, lovely creature, I’m glad you treat this right:
The soul… the wonderful breath of God, there is no frame, no
criterion, it can live only in flight… but the cargo, insults, pain…
can break the wings… Fly, live, my dear… continue to remember!
All that you had heard, the words that come out from the mouth
of the bad person, do not take them to heart and soul, be above
and while you will not take them close to your heart, they will be
just the words of a fool!”
Fox and Beaver
Fox married wealthy Beaver who has the dams and forests…
While as the Fox has only costly fur and temper sly and quick…
Beaver was greedy and too miser that twittered just on coin
Fox often blew his money, indulged herself and groomed…
Two souls, two characters have met on crossroad of the fate
One worked and counted his wealth with fear in the heart
Another lived without care in the world, loved lights and spent
all money one day the Beaver became ill, was tired of hard work…
And called his wife to tell his valediction:
“My dear wife, my time has come; I can not work no more
More is the pity that I lived without light, I lead my
life by counting…
You always spend, I always worked, and here is a paradox
I immolated hands and legs… But your fur shone, I know
My life is finished, and you, my wife, continue to live…
It’s disappointing hurtfully but I don’t understand,
how must I live?”
Fox answered: “My darling, you see, horse left the barn…
Your conversation has no sense. You’d lost your chance in past
You didn’t want to see the light it was unloved to you
But don’t regret, in place of you I see the world on full
I learnt and tasted it, so sweet… You reeked with sweat —
I took my ease…
And it all right, but only thing disturbs me here and there
If you go out of this world I’ll stay and live then in distress?
While you were sick recourses finished, and the world is not
so sweet I have seen all, I know enough…”
And beaver dreamed about light so shining in his eyes,
has shed a tear and shuffled off this mortal coil
Fox cried about her poor life, and run on the way of living…
Someone is coming to amass but not to see the life,
And others fill with nausea…
And they regret that hadn’t learn
That golden mean… It is the essence…
Two earthworms lived in the nasty ground and only saw the dark
One day decided to compete and organized a race
And where? Just above the ground! All jokes aside!
And our sportsmen have crept out… exclaimed a little and start!
This way they run and then they creep and dreamed of finish line!
But fifteen minutes passed away… there is no end, no middle,
There is too hot in endless road and earthworms lost their force
And one of them talked to another: “What kind of fool was I!
I have forgotten that light isn’t nice to me… it’s very hot,
I lose my forces!
Perhaps, we should return or otherwise, we’ll die”
“My friend, I see, you are weak! But you had taken dare!
Stick to your guns! And keep your word!
Don’t ache and look at me!
I will arrive the first, you can be sure of it! It always
happens in this way the Earthworm bears the palm
and raises speed, and suddenly he saw a bar…
It was so unexpected!
The road was clean! It is no doubt! The worm has raised the head
And suddenly he flew to heaven… From loss of consciousness
and forces he dreamed he has the wings and yet achieved his goal!
Another earthworm saw the truth that happened with his friend…
Black raven caught him by the pounces and carried him away,
He was so frightened and the lump has risen in a throat…
Where is way out?
It is no start and even end — just sunburned in the sky
The depressed earthworm passed away. It’s hard to live alone
Without motivation, without a friend who was an example
and helps you how to act the earthworm sighed, his tears slid,
he lost the faith in life…
The sun was ruthless, the source of life,
and loved earthy creations…
And our athlete didn’t stand the troubles of destiny…
We create idols and copy them…
Let them rule our life…
But once we lost them, it retired
And what will do alone? Will you follow for him on death?
Lion, Elk and Raven
One day the Elk has his name day and called Lion and Raven
He lays the table in a good mood and waits for dear guests
Raven came and Lion came and they sat at the table
Elk ply them with exotic dishes and appetizing food
This dish was cooked of high-grade grass, it grew up on the fields
It’s very healthful for your pressure and for your heart of course
There is hay in front of you that was correctly stored
It’s depository of health and plant protein is
I eat it for my muscles and bones and then have energy
I run and jump like a machine. It’s salad of dandelions
It is spinach and racy sprouts, my dear friends, let’s eat!
Lion and Raven exchanged their glances and gazed both at the Elk
And Lion said: “My dear Elk, I eat no hay no straw
I only can sleep on the grass, but I don’t eat a hay!
You make a fun of us!”
“What kind of humorist you are!” — said Raven,
“I can eat one of seed but I don’t eat hay from birth
and I apologize!”
The Elk got upset and said “My dear guests, how it can be?
This food is very useful! And now it’s on fashion!
I tried to astonish my guests and all dishes were very hearty
What do you eat?’ — he asked the Raven ‘It’s only carrion
and dirt! And you, my Lion? Please, don’t judge! I cooked the best
for you look at the dishes, how much for health and body they’ve
contained Raven can’t stand more: “My Elk, what do you say?
How dare you tell me in such term and call names on my food?
I’ve eaten it three hundred years and I am in good health!”
And Lion adds “I agree with Raven and I don’t understand
Your goal of gathering us here. Is it your name day or teaching?
I eat meat all my life and it’s my food. I will not be the Elk!
I’m Lion and I’ll die as Lion! Whoever heard of such a thing?
That Lion eats hay? We need to go, sorry us, Elk
This dinner finished. It can’t be continued
Let’s go, my Raven, otherwise we can let out at!
Nature gifted us a life, we all are different and unique
The tastes differ. The harmony is born in wisdom.
A fish fell into a net…
One day a fish fell into a net, she swallowed a ledger-bait
She hangs on a line and wants to save herself
Her friends proposed her a help, while Fisher doesn’t see
But Fish said no, she dreamed to see the light
To see the starlit night and rays of sun that gives the warm
Fish dreamed to fly in the blue sky, to taste a lucky star
Her family warned of this plan, it isn’t worthy of life!
But fish decided firmly and swallowed deeply a bait
And she is flying in the sky and lights were in her eyes
Because of happiness she even stopped to breath,
but the price of it was life
The fisher kept her in his hand and boasted of his catch
But foolish Fish was thrilled with such gladness…
It’s time to fry the Fish on the pan, she fancied it’s the sun
The world goes dark before her eyes of burning on a pan
And dish her up in so reach plate; there is a lot of fish
At her last gasp, she changes her mind and understood her error
We often are entrapped of gain that isn’t salt of the earth
We can not hear our mind; we look to castle-building
We look to the nonexistent world and at the expense of life…
Father Eagle taught Son to fly
Father Eagle taught Son to fly, the Son was very frightened
Of falls and beats and to crash down and to singe his wings by Sun
He really cried and his heart sinks into his shoes
He looked ahead and was so feared of the unknown world
Father was wise and understood all doubts of his son
“Tell me, my Father, what I’ll do if I fall down of steep?”
“You must go up and try to fly thorough and thorough!”
“And if I’ll fall again of steep or break my wings or burn?”
“You’ll try to rise again and start exactly from beginning
Don’t get me wrong, all your descents are really no matter!
You must frighten to live in vain and when your soul is empty
The soul is dead, her way is vain, your spirit cannot fly
She’ll come on Earth, getting a chance; she’ll not have sense
or knowledge your life is vain, you’ve spent it close, you haven’t
known some glory nor touch the sun, nor touch the clouds nor run
on land barefoot you swim in life to the long way; you can try
space on taste.
Believe, my Son, entering a stream, you will not even feel the fate”.
And eaglet flapped his wing and shouted from skies: “Thank you!
My Father, thank you for your love, for wisdom, for your patience!
The wings are wonderful! I admire the boundless space of Light!
My Soul already has known flight, to seat in the nest is bored!”
And Father Eagle breathed all heart he found rest in the soul:
My lovely child got to know flight and I worked not in vain.
Not simply so we come on Earth,
And life has a hidden meaning.
Your soul can fly in the body shell
But do not lose a moment…
A Turkey boasts in front of Turkey- hen
All day long Turkey boasted in front of a pretty neighbor
He shook his feathers and fluffed a tail and was too big for boots.
Then shocked a red beard before her eyes and shouted so badly,
He danced so strangely. It felt like he had fewer.
Turkey-hen looked on concerts and silently accustomed
her strange neighbor she took no notice for his plans and did her
work at ease he saw indifference to him and started talking to her
and make a point of him “My Neighbor, look what feathers are!
Can you see my motley tail? I brushed and washed it all day.
Look at my beard it’s brighter than a sun! Look, what a miracle!
When I shake it, I like to sound! And how lovely wings I have
With such the wings I’m noble Turkey!”
“With such the wings you are the real Turkey!
And shake your beard, as a young jackass…
You napped your tail and outshone the sun. Spring influenced you!
My Neighbor, would you show your flight as long as you are brave?
The flight of the soul. Show me your inner world
I want to see your dance of life and judge you on your merits
A turkey-cock was agitated and even lost his head.
She is my own and she likes me! What will I do, how to declare
my flight? It’s unimportant, I will fly up!
I will fly up and will show my daring! From the earth, I can’t.
I can from the hill!
It will be easier, I will scatter and as I will fly up,
I will surprise my Darling and he began to run. He groans and puffs
on the hill climbs and really lost his forces
He flapped a wing he was like eagle… and got down from a hill,
He gathered burdock on his beard and sat down on thick back.
We often brag and talk largely
Showing our body and bright dresses.
We try to outshine the others…
We just forgot that our soul can dance.
Wild boar and Squirrel
In the oak grove, wild Boar argued with Squirrel
About that, who in this world brings more benefits?
The instigator of dispute, wild Boar, exclaimed, that it was he!!!
And brought the reasons over: “What benefit from me to all
are this grove? Time after time I swarm the roots, you see, it’s not
so easy look, everything I’ve burrowed around! And you?
What profits do you have? You jump on trees all days long,
There is no use in wood from you! Only my head is swimming
Go down and begin to work! Wild boar shoot a look on Squirrel, he
was dissatisfied, and he continued to dig up in the roots of trees
And Squirrel suddenly began to speak:
“Just wait, my friend, I do not understand, what do you talk about?
What blessing have you done? Just dug up all around
You bared roots; from them, all trees are feeding!
Your digging ruin trees, you know, that dig is for your pleasure
You search delicious roots and sprouts, don’t look at me, I ask you
The reasons for my hop and bustle it’s none of your concern
You like to dig up in the earth, go on in the same spirit!
I’ll think about the benefit, which I bring in an oak grove.
I want to say you, do not judge others by yourself
Then your head will not be swimming!”
And Squirrel bridled up the tail and jumped up on the barrel,
She disappeared in the leaves, only a rustle was heard.
Wild boar tried to heave up and gazed after the Squirrel
He pushed in earth his dirty nose, thinking about Squirrel…
Sometimes we like to judge each other,
We search for defects and evils.
We praise ourselves and think that all around must look like us
And we forget that all of us are different,
And we’re only able to act the role, That was given to us by fate.
Eagle and Parrot
Eagle sat on the branch of a tree and decided to relax,
He stretched out his wing and straightened his back
Then Eagle lifted up his head and saw above the Parrot.
Pretending that he doesn’t see, Eagle stretched out his wing,
And with half an eye he looked on Parrot.
And Parrot looked on Eagle from a height and copied all Eagles’
manners. He pulled up and mashed a back,
As though he flew all day and twirled as Eagle in the sky.
Looking at this circus, Eagle said:
“Brother, do you wish to fly with me and steam under the Sun,
And do you want to hunt, to taste my supper, truly?
If it’s true, let’s fly right now together
and I’ll look what you are on a business!”
Eagle threw up and straightened wings and Parrot followed him,
He was like Eagle, strong and brave, the proud and free bird.
Eagle flies to the sun. But Parrot loses forces and even goes behind
An eagle caught sight a hare that went at a jog-trot
He swooped down, tearing skies, to catch enormous booty
Eagle went down near the hare and grasped him by his pounce
And Parrot strangled in the sky, but imitates the Eagle.
In fact, he’s Eagle, isn’t he? And he did the same trick
But Parrot fell like a stone; he did not see the aim.
He dropped as if he had been shot he was tired so much
Parrot did not catch the hare and lost forces from loading.
He lies and stretches his wings on the field.
He’s more dead than alive…
Sometimes we copy our friends, sometimes we emulate.
We want to be in other place but not on our own.
We act against our essence and go against Nature
We make a laugh doing it and lose our delight…
Donkey and two Goats
Once in the light day, a dispute was made by two not young Goats.
The first tells to another and presses him by horn:
“You see my horns are very strong, how much force I have.
I’ll overcome you, foolish Goat!
The second Goat replies: “What are your horns! Look at my hoofs!
I will give on your sides by them; you’ll fly with horns in a ditch!”
A day ends, but Goats don’t stop. Donkey passed by,
He saw two debutants and he wanted to help them
“Why do you press each other, Goats, you’d rather calm down.
You, on the right hand, press down stronger, I will look!
But you press incorrectly!
And you, that on the left, move your hoof stronger!
My Brother, quarrel by yourselves. I am tired and bored
Shake a beard stronger, beat by hoof…
that’s all for you, my Brother
Two Goats did not survive the judgeship and threw down
him in a ditch, and there his gust got cold, and Goats settled on
a grass of droop there is a night; Goats are so weak in beatings.
There is a judge sits on the ditch.
Two fools meet on the road of life,
But nothing is more frightful of the third fool,
who is by no means clever.
